Mark Modawell has 20 years of construction management experience involved with high- profile/aggressive construction projects as an Owner’s project director, and as a general contractor. Since 1998, Mark has led the construction of the largest hotels and office complexes in the State of Washington, all receiving rewards for quality. Mark has managed contracts for lump sum, GMP, GC/CM, design-build for over $1.8 billion of construction projects in both the private and public sector and he has never been involved in a legal claim on his projects. Mark’s management style is a “Can-do” approach that is aggressive with results; and maintains respect by the construction community. Mark is a leader, and has the ability to make decisions and give direction to the design and construction team to keep a project on track. Because of his diverse construction management skills and experience, Mr. Modawell brings firsthand knowledge of field practices and provides “real world” insight for preconstruction and construction management, budget and scheduling analysis of complex projects. Independent Consultant to private developer as Project Director to oversee the design and construction of a 94 key boutique hotel. Responsibility includes selection and management of design and operations team, proforma development, cost control, selection of design-build subcontractors, and oversight as Owner/Builder.
Independent Consultant to Marriott International as Project Director for $90 Million Building, 345,000 SF 358 room hotel, retail, and convention facility. Responsibilities include complete oversight management for financial control, verification of Marriott’s standards and schedules being met for design team, contractor and subs--including coordination of Marriott’s FF&E / OS&E installation.
Independent Consultant to Hedreen LLC as a project manager for a $145 million, 945,000 SF 435 room hotel, retail, and parking facility. Mr. Modawell was contracted to complete construction and assist in the opening of the facility. Responsibilities include completion of buyout, schedule management, subcontractor management, procurement and installation of FFE & OSE.
Project Manager for a $150 million, 1.2 million SF office and parking garage office complex for Microsoft. Responsible as the general contractor for all operations of estimating, subcontracting, direct labor totaling over $12 million. Project was completed in two phases each received Certificate of Occupancy one week ahead of schedule and under budget.
Project Manager/Engineer as a general contractor performing GC/CM for 27 – Story, 196-unit apartment tower and a separate 10-story office tower complex, 4-level underground garage.
Charted and developed the initial pilot GC/CM program for Mann Elementary School expansion. Developed the RFP, Invitation to bid, Standard Form of Agreement between Owner and Construction Manager, General Conditions and Supplementary Conditions, selection of the contractor for the GC/CM, conducted interviews with general contractors, and final selection of the GC/CM.
