Engagement Scope

The Sutor Group was engaged by Mid Mountain Contractors to assist in the resolution of a dispute related to the Kittitas County Gas Line project. The total amount of the claim as submitted to Puget Sound Energy was $5,620,712.

Project description

The project consisted of a new high-pressure natural gas line that would service Puget Sound Energy customers in Kittitas County. The project was planned to cover 38 miles of gas line between the towns of Kittitas and Cle Elum, Washington.

Entitlement issues

Superior knowledge relating to right of way status, horizontal directional drilling failure, use of mechanical pipe padder failure due to existing soil conditions, additional groundwater site condition, unidentified underground utilities and owner interference.

Type of impacts

Labor and equipment impacts arising out of the performance of extra work, inefficiency due to various issues on the project, including extra moves and labor inefficiency resulting from differing site conditions. The impacts also included extended job site overhead and home office overhead as a result of extended job performance.
