Engagement Scope

The Sutor Group was engaged by Goodfellow Bros., Inc. to prepare its claim for damages. The total claim value as submitted to the City of Burien was $1,233,819.

Project description

Street improvements including clearing and grubbing, demolition of existing pavement, constructing new storm drainage, pavement and sidewalks. The project length was just over 1 mile.

Entitlement issues

Goodfellow asserted that it sustained damages arising from the owners interference and delays in removing and replacing utility poles and lines, significant defect and deficiencies in the plans and specifications and significant underground utility conflicts.

Type of impacts

Goodfellow and its electrical subcontractor sustained labor and equipment inefficiencies due to unforeseen utilities which resulted in a change to their planned method of construction. The claim also included a component for extended project duration costs.
